Da Nang starts work on infrastructure upgrade project along downtown streets
The Da Nang Management Board of Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects, on Tuesday, started work on the project to upgrade the drainage system and put the existing overhead power and telecommunications cables along 4 major downtown streets underground.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh highly appreciated the great efforts of the project’s Management Board, authorities of Hai Chau and Thanh Khe districts, and related units in preparing and implementing the project in accordance with regulations, ensuring construction progress.
He, at the same time, urged relevant parties to do their utmost to ensure quality and progress of the project, and minimise impacts on traffic and people's lives.
The city leader also requested the municipal Department of Construction to support traffic regulation during rush hours, and the contractor to seriously implement its commitments, apply technology in management, and speed up progress.
Such units as the Da Nang Power Company and telecommunications network operators were asked to coordinate synchronously in order to avoid repeated excavation and filling, affecting the safety and progress of the project.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Nam, Deputy Director of the Management Board of the Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects, said that the abovementioned project will be carried out on Phan Chau Trinh, Le Loi, Hoang Dieu and Ong Ich Khiem streets. It was approved by the municipal People's Council in its Resolution No. 15/NQ-HDND dated May 24, 2024 and had investment licence granted in Decision No. 2532/QD-UBND dated November 11, 2024 of the municipal People's Committee.

The project aims to enhance urban aesthetics, improve traffic infrastructure, increase drainage capacity, serve economic - tourism development, and improve people's quality of life. The project has a total length of 6.94km stretching four streets, covering an area of 143,130m². It will maintain the current road surface and sidewalk width.
The project will focus on renovating the drainage system, upgrading the drainage system and put the existing overhead power and telecommunications cables underground, paving sidewalks with granite, planting trees, and relocating water supply systems, and installing additional fire hydrants along the streets.
The project belongs to group B, and level III technical infrastructure works. It is expected to cost VND nearly 282 billion funded by the city budget and will be implemented from 2024-2026.

The project’s investor is the Management Board of the Priority Infrastructure Investment Projects. The construction contractor consortium includes the Dacinco Construction Investment Company Limited, the Nhat Huy Construction & Trading Company Limited, the Ha Noi Water Works Construction JSC, and the Da Nang Public Lighting JSC.
