At the event "Vision & Partnership Day" held in Da Nang on Sunday, part of the Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors Conference (AISC) 2025, many experts proposed ideas for Da Nang to promote its potential and advantages to develop the semiconductors and artificial intelligence (AI) industries in the coming time.

Supporting startups, increasing investment attraction

Dr. Christopher Nguyen, CEO of Aitomatic company (the USA), an AI expert, suggested Da Nang pay attention to FDI attraction (FDI), especially in the semiconductors and AI fields.

Over the past 5-10 years, AI technology has become powerful enough to change life, so Viet Nam in general and Da Nang in particular need clear policies to support and encourage the development of semiconductors and AI.

However, he noted that Da Nang should not focus on saturated markets, but have new perspectives, for example, developing edge AI which refers to the deployment of AI algorithms and AI models directly on local edge devices such as sensors or Internet of Things (IoT) devices, which enables real-time data processing and analysis without constant reliance on cloud infrastructure.

This approach helps reduce latency, save bandwidth and enhance security by keeping data locally. After identifying the field, it is necessary for the city to implement solutions to attract talents and train high-quality human resources to meet the requirements.

Similarly, Mr. Nanda Kishore, an expert in the AI field, recommended that the city should increase the application of AI in many fields, especially using AI to increase labour productivity. The city boasts its strengths in information technology, which is very suitable for increasing the number of semiconductor and AI development teams.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nhu Huy Hoang, General Director of NousLogic Telehealth company (the USA), an expert in the field of chip design, highly appreciated the potential of Da Nang for the development of the hi-tech industry and innovativon startups. In particular, the city has been allowed by the National Assembly of Viet Nam to implement a number of specific policies for its future  development.

He proposed that Da Nang should continue to focus on the semiconductor and AI industries. He also stressed the necessity for the city to create the most attractive working environment and surrounding ecosystem to lure more investors and experts at both home and abroad. Additionally, heed will be on training high-quality human resources to meet the needs of businesses.

Da Nang strives to develop semiconductors and AI

According to Mr. Le Hoang Phuc, Director of the Danang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Training (DSAC), to promote the development of the semiconductors and AI field in Da Nang, DSAC continues to carry out training activities. In particular, basic training courses were organized in 2024 for untrained microchip design lecturers. There were advanced training courses on chip design. DSAC coordinated with strategic partner enterprises to open training courses for students in the field of semiconductors, and organise AI training courses in cooperation with Microsoft Corporation, Intel and Nvidia.

At the same time, DSAC will call for investment in building infrastructure to support research projects in the field of semiconductors and AI such as the High Performance Computing Centre, and research labs for training, and at the same time will advise on the implementation of resolutions regulating policies for the development of semiconductor and AI industries in the city.

Within the framework of AISC 2025, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh delivered his speech on the opportunities and development potential of Da Nang.

The city is committed to promoting the application of science and technology in all fields, as well as creating the most favourable conditions for tech enterprises, especially those operating in the fields of microchips and AI, to develop and integrate into the global value chain.

To promote sustainable development, the city has been paying attention to three main pillars: infrastructure, human resources and policy. In term of technology infrastructure, the 1,128ha Da Nang High-Tech Park, the Software Park No. 2 with a floor area of 90,000m², and a number of innovation centres have been developed.

Meanwhile, intensive human resource training programmes with leading universities, and cooperation agreements with large corporations such as Synopsys, Nvidia and Intel, have been carried out. Investment incentives have been implemented synchronously to create the most favourable environment for domestic and foreign enterprises.

Moreover, Da Nang is making more efforts to boost international cooperation, and attract leading corporations to invest in the city. Aside from AI, Da Nang aims to comprehensively develop the stages of design, production, testing, and packaging of microchips, helping local businesses complete the supply chain right in the locality.

In 2024, Da Nang attracted 18 semiconductors enterprises, doubling the number of 2023. The city wishes to accompany partners to create new values, contributing to promoting the development of the semiconductors and AI industries in Viet Nam.

In the coming time, Da Nang hopes that many international enterprises and organisations will know the city as an ideal destination for investment, research, development and application of AI and semiconductors technology. With the advantages and strong commitment of the municipal government, Da Nang is ready to become the leading tech centre in the region.
