During the meeting, Chairman Chinh briefed his guests on some of the city’s prominent projects, especially the Lien Chieu Seaport located at the end of the East-West Economic Corridor. The seaport will be built on an area of about 450 hectares including the water surface and have a capacity of 50 million tonnes/year. As planned, the planning of Lien Chieu seaport will include the Lien Chieu container terminal, the Lien Chieu general cargo and bulk cargo terminal, and the Lien Chieu liquid and gas wharf.
Da Nang focuses on developing Lien Chieu Seaport into an international gateway port, and attracting major transportation and logistics companies in the world. This is a seaport that can access large ships, and have the capacity to access, transport, and transit container goods with other seaports in the world. Accordingly, import and export goods can go directly to European and American countries, reducing transportation costs, and increasing competitiveness in the international market.
The Lien Chieu Seaport can become one of the main ports in the route of international shipping services with super-large ships, helping enhance Viet Nam's position in the global supply chain.
Chairman Chinh pledged that the municipal government will offer maximum conditions, and provide full information, for the group to research and implement investment plans for strategic projects in the Lien Chieu Port.
For his part, Mr. Robert Yap, Executive Chairman of YCH Group, unveiled that the group, established in 1955, is Singapore’s largest home-grown supply chain solutions company and leading regional supply chain management partner to many of the world’s leading brands across Asia Pacific.
In Viet Nam, YCH Group has cooperated with T&T Group to develop the Vietnam SuperPort (VPS) - the first multimodal logistics hub in Viet Nam - on an area of 83 hectares in Vinh Phuc Province. The US$ 166 million VPS has a designed cargo capacity of about 530,000 TEUs. Its mission is to enhance Viet Nam's integration into the global supply chain, reduce logistics costs and increase competitiveness in international trade.
Currently, YCH Group wants to research and invest in a multimodal logistics centre in the Central and Southern regions, and at the same time, explore opportunities for cooperation in human resource training and technological solutions in the field of logistics.
Mr. Robert Yap expected that the potential and advantages of local economic development and strategic location of Da Nang in the transportation hub, and transit of goods and services, will foster investment cooperation in the Lien Chieu port in the coming time.
