The Huynh Thuc Khang specialised catering street in Hai Chau District has become a familiar address for many people who love food and drink. Almost every time of the day, the street is always bustling with people and tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Van Long hailing from Quang Ngai Province often comes here with his family and friends on weekends to enjoy the cuisine.

He shared "The dishes here are very delicious, the prices are reasonable. In particular, many local specialties are on sale, helping customers have a variety of choices. This street is also located in the centre of the city, which makes the travelling more convenient".

Besides Huynh Thuc Khang Street, there are Le Thanh Nghi catering street, K23 Tran Ke Xuong culinary alley, and Pham Hong Thai nighttime food street in Hai Chau District.

Additionally, Bach Dang Walking Street operating from June 2024 attracts the attention of both residents and tourists. Aside from drinking, eating and souvenir kiosks, the walking street also hosts music and art performances, festivals, events, and street art activities. It becomes a unique tourist highlight for both locals and visitors.

According to the People's Committee of Hai Chau District, through the survey, the renovation and upgrading of each street ensures suitability and efficiency, prioritising the use of socialized resources. For streets that still have infrastructure problems that cannot be renovated or upgraded, the district will have a conversion plan suitable to reality, ensuring high consensus between residents and businesses.

Nguyen Dinh Tuu - a specialised flower, ornamental plant, handicraft and souvenir street in Thanh Khe District - is now home to 52 businesses, including 32 specialising in selling flowers and ornamental plants.

Ms. Ngo Thi Huong, the owner of a flower shop on the street, said “After nearly 10 years of operation, in addition to regular customers, my shop has attracted many new customers, helping to form a stable customer base. Most of the shops here focus on the best quality to maintain their reputation. Prices of goods are stable to create peace of mind for buyers. The shops also equip their staff with thoughtful service and civilised commercial style”.

Ms. Tran Tuong Van, acting Chairwoman of Thanh Khe District People's Committee, said that since 2015, the locality has clearly defined the specialised streets including Le Duan fashion street; Nguyen Dinh Tuu flower, ornamental plant and handicraft and souvenir street; Nguyen Tri Phuong claypot rice street; and Ham Nghi electronics street.

These streets have 393 businesses in total. Most of the businesses have maintained stable operations with a variety of quality products and goods, attracting a large number of customers. The district is also orienting and mobilising businesses to convert Phan Thanh Street into a street specialising in fashion and cuisine.

According to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, the gathering of shop and business households in the same business group on the same street contributes to increasing common recognition, and creating favourable conditions for consumers to shop and choose a variety of products, goods and services according to their needs.

Shops on specialised streets have proactively built, renovated and redecorated signs, creating a new look and promoting other activities such as cashless payments.

In the coming time, the Department will continue to coordinate with localities and related units to deploy the formation and development of additional specialised streets associated with tourism services.

Moreover, importance will be attached to promoting the development of cashless payment streets, and regularly organising and launching shopping stimulus programmes.

Functional units and localities will also strengthen inspection, control, and handling of business activities of smuggled, counterfeit and poor quality goods; goods of unknown origin; and goods that do not ensure food safety on the specialised streets.
