Da Nang takes safety measures for parasailing
The parasailing game has recently received special attention from tourists when coming to the central coastal city of Da Nang. However, this is an extreme sport, so to ensure the safety of tourists, relevant units need to increase warnings and closely monitor, especially when the beach tourism season is about to kick off.

On an early April afternoon, My Khe Beach attracted a large number of Da Nang locals and tourists who want to seek fun and relaxing moments here, and many of them showed their keen interest in the parasailing game.
“The feeling of soaring above the waves was exciting and made me a little scared. Immediately after that, I felt like I was flying in the middle of the sea and sky, feeling the immense beauty of the sea, having a new perspective of Da Nang from the sea. This is extremely interesting”, shared Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tin, a tourist from Gia Lai Province located in Viet Nam's Central Highlands
According to Mr. Tran Thanh Thien, the CEO of DanaBeach, a provider of sea sports and entertainment services, sea games in Da Nang are diverse and suitable for many tourists, from light relaxation to scuba diving and coral viewing, and especially, tourists who love adventurous sea sports want to experience the paragliding game.
This is a water sport in which a person is towed behind a boat while attached to a parachute-like canopy. The parasail is suspended from a harness that is attached to the boat, and as the boat moves, the parasailer is lifted into the air and glides through the sky.
Some people are attracted to the thrill and excitement of being lifted into the air and soaring like a bird. Others are drawn to the beautiful views and the sense of freedom and weightlessness that comes with being suspended above the water. In addition to the enjoyment, it can also be a great way to improve physical fitness and challenge yourself physically and mentally.
In particular, players are always secured to the paragliding line with locks and equipped with life jackets to ensure safety. Support staff stretch the rope and parachute so that the canoe can pull the players up. The paragliding canoe flies at an altitude of about 50 - 100m so that participants can admire the sea and the city. Depending on the path of the canoe, the paragliding also changes height to help players increase the thrill.
“This activity makes the sea space of Da Nang more vibrant. Domestic and foreign tourists love this sport. In order to ensure the safety of tourists, the unit has focused on ensuring the ultimate safety of tourists, carefully advising players as well as providing detailed instructions before participating, having a list of regulations for them using the service in Vietnamese and many other international languages…”, Mr. Thien said.
According to Mr. Tran Dai Nghia, the Deputy Head of the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, for the parasailing game in particular, and sea sports in general, this agency has instructed businesses to have measures to ensure safety when doing business such as warning signs; rescue plans; ensuring communication; arranging and using coaches, technicians and guides with appropriate expertise...; buying insurance for tourists, do not let the elderly or children participate in.
Up to now, there have been no unfortunate accidents involving parasailing, but occasionally there have been cases of choking on water or water shock due to tourists losing their composure when landing from a high place into the water. As in the recent case of a tourist choking on water, the rescue team as well as parasailing staff provided timely and thoughtful support.
“There are unexpected incidents due to weather and the psychology of the players. Therefore, we also remind adventure sports businesses to carefully advise players; on the contrary, players also need to consider their health status before signing the participation commitment form,” Mr. Nghia advised.
According to Mr. Nghia, sports tourism has recently attracted a large number of tourists and created positive contributions to the local tourism industry’s revenue. As the sea tourism season approaches, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang tourist beaches has increased safety assurance for those joining sea sports activities.
Da Nang residents and tourists need to strictly follow the recommendations of the authorities, be careful when participating in sea sports, do not arbitrarily use sports equipment (sup boards, kayaks…) at tourist attractions to swim out to sea without the guidance of rescue forces; do not participate in paragliding, scuba diving, parasailing …if your health is not guaranteed.
At the same time, the management board must coordinate with relevant agencies to continue to tighten the inspection and management of sea sports activities, promptly and strictly handle violations by related organizations and individuals.
