Da Nang's Tien Sa Port to be converted into tourist port after 2030

The Ministry of Construction has just approved the detailed planning for the development of land and seaport waters in the 2021-2030 period with a capital requirement of about VND23,335 billion. In particular, after 2030, the Tien Sa Port in Da Nang will be gradually converted into a tourist port.

Accordingly, seaports in Da Nang will include Tien Sa, Lien Chieu, Tho Quang, My Khe, and Hoang Sa, along with anchorage areas, transshipment areas and storm shelters.

By 2030, the seaports are expected to handle 23-29 million tonnes of cargo, meeting the capacity to receive 532,300 - 597,000 passengers. Regarding infrastructure, the planning approves 12-15 ports including 20-23 wharves with a total length of 4,220-5,745m.

By 2050, the city will continue to develop new seaports to meet the demand for cargo throughput with an average growth rate of about 4.5-5.5%/year.

During this period, the construction of the Lien Chieu Port will be completed with a scale of overall development orientation of 22 ports to meet the growing demand for cargo. These will comprise 8 liquid/gas ports; 8 container ports; and 6 general cargo and bulk cargo ports, developing container cargo according to the planning period when needed.

The capital investment demand for the seaport system by 2030 is about VND 23,335 billion, including about VND 6,505 billion for public maritime infrastructure and around VND 16,830 billion for the development of seaports.
