Viet Nam ready to kick off 5th SEA student sports festival
Preparations for the 5th Southeast Asian student sports festival, including sporting facilities, accommodation and transportation, have been completed, Tran Quang Quy, Vice Minister of Education and Training said at a press conference in Ha Noi.

The festival will greet student athletes from Viet Nam, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, the Philippines and Laos, who will compete from June 23-30, said Quy, who heads the organising board.
Over 248 Vietnamese students will participate in the festival’s nine disciplines, which include athletics, swimming, badminton, basketball, gymnastics, table tennis, volleyball pencak silat and sepak takraw.
The organising board said the festival’s matches will take place at the Hanoi Training Sports Centre, My Dinh national stadium and the aquatic sport centre.
The festival aims to develop physical education and sports in schools, and improve students’ fitness.
In addition, it will introduce and promote Vietnam’s image and characteristics to foreign people.
