Local swimmer wins gold medal at AIMAG
Hoang Quy Phuoc, known as the extraordinary man of the Han River, clinched a gold medal in the men's 100m freestyle on Wednesday at the 2013 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG). The event is being held in Incheon City, South Korea, from 29 June - 6 July.
Phuoc finished his race in 48.98 seconds, followed by Liu Junwu from China in 49.18 seconds and Azayev Yevgeniy from Kazakhstan in 49.57 seconds.
During the previous days of the competition, Phuoc also won the silver in the men’s 200m freestyle in a time of 1 minute 46 seconds, and the bronze in the men’s 100m butterfly in 52.68 seconds.

Currently, Viet Nam is in 5th place at AIMAG with 3 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze medals, behind China, South Korea, Thailand, and Kazakhstan.
Phuoc has been training with Australian coach Noel Bertwistle at the city's Athlete Training Centre. The talented swimmer’s participation in this year’s AIMAG competition is useful preparation for the upcoming 2013 SEA Games, which will be held in Myanmar later this year.
