SHB DN fail to reach National Cup semi-finals
Three of the four quarter-final matches in the 2014 National Cup were played yesterday afternoon.
SHB Da Nang had their National Cup Champions ambitions crushed when they were beaten 2-1 in the Go Dau Stadium by Binh Duong.
SHB DN opened the scoring in the 44th minute through striker Ho Ngoc Thang. However, the lack of experience of the young SHB players, and mistakes by their goalkeeper Thanh Binh, gave their opponents the opportunity to score in the 51st and 76th minutes to win the game.

In another match, Hai Phong beat QNK Quang Nam 3-1 in the Lach Tray Stadium. Hai Phong’s striker Andre Diego Fagan made his mark in the game by scoring goals in the 37th and 45th minutes. Then, their midfielder Vu Thanh Tung added another in the 52nd minute, and his team were 3-0 ahead. Just one minute later, Quang Nam’s midfielder Thanh Van scored which narrowed the gap at 3-1. Whilst the last few minutes were tense, Hai Phong managed to hold on to their lead to the end.
In the third match, Hoang Anh Gia Lai won a place in the semi-finals after a dramatic 4-3 penalty shoot-out win over Quang Ninh at the Cam Pha Stadium.
The last quarter-final match between Dak Lak and Dong Tam Long An will take place at the Buon Me Thuot Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, 10 June.
The next match for SHB DN is on Sunday, 15 June, at home to An Giang in the 2014 V-League.
