Local "tuong" artistes gain awards

The awards ceremony took place in Binh Dinh Province’s Quy Nhon City on Wednesday for a national competition to seek young talent for “tuong” (classical drama).  The competition, which ran from 25 to 30 July, featured fascinating “tuong” performances by 40 young artistes from 6 professional troupes from across the country.

A total of 6 gold and 9 silver medals were presented, and 13 performers received Outstanding Young Artiste awards.  In addition, the participating troupes were given Certificates of Merit from the Viet Nam Stage Artistes’ Association.

Artistes from Da Nang’s Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre were highly appreciated by the competition’s judging panel for their impressive performances.  Specifically, Tran Thi Kim Oanh won a gold medal for her performance in an extract from “Giac Mo Dong Nhat” (Dong Nhat’s Dreams).  Her colleagues Cao The Anh and Do Trung Tam gained silver medals, whilst Le The Ngoc, Pham Manh Hung, Nguyen Thi Lan Anh and Pham Thi Bich Hue received Outstanding Young Artiste awards.
