The qualifying round of this year’s Thanh Nien (Youth) Newspaper U21 Football Tournament is taking place in Quang Nam Province’s Tam Ky City from 14 - 19 August.  The teams taking part are SHB Da Nang, QNK Quang Nam, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa.  They are competing in a round-robin format with the two top-placed teams going into the finals which will be held in Can Tho City in late September.

In the opening match, SHB DN had an easy 4-1 win over QNK Quang Nam at Tam Ky Stadium thanks to goals from Quach Tan and Van Dung and a double from Ngoc Thang.  As a result, SHB DN have already qualified for the finals, and they will play a dead rubber against Ninh Binh on Tuesday afternoon. 

Also on Tuesday, QNK Quang Nam will face Thanh Hoa for the other ticket to the finals.
