On Saturday, a ceremony took place in Da Nang to receive the certification which recognises the Thanh Vinh Communal House as a municipal historical relic.

Situated in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, the Thanh Vinh Communal House, formerly known as Thanh Son Communal House, was built about 200 years ago.

The communal house was used to store food for revolutionary soldiers, and it was also a place where the Da Hoa Commune’s War Resistance Committee organised important meetings during the past 2 resistance wars.

Between 1955 and 1963, the house was a clandestine site for local revolutionary forces to store important documents, as well as to hold meetings to discuss strategies for battles in the north of Hoa Vang District.

In later years, the house was a safe shelter for revolutionary soldiers, and it was also a place from which wounded soldiers were transferred to hospitals.  In addition, it was a venue for those from the inner-city revolutionary bases to take training courses and receive instructions from their leaders.

The Thanh Vinh Communal House was devastated twice during the wars, but it was restored by local residents.  Today, the house plays a vital role in educating younger generations about the country’s revolutionary traditions.
