Da Nang International Lifeguard Competition
On Sunday afternoon, the Da Nang International Lifeguard Competition, the first of its kind ever to have been held in the central region, took place at the Eastern Sea Park. Organised by the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches and Surf Life Saving Vietnam, the event took “Festive Day for Sea Watchers” as its theme.
The event aimed to create an opportunity for domestic and foreign lifeguard teams to exchange their experiences in maritime rescue activities. Competing at the event were 17 rescue teams from renowned seaside holiday resorts in Nha Trang, Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang, Australia, Thailand and the Philippines. The teams competed in running along the sand, rescue swimming, paddling rescue coracles, “cuop co” (capturing the flag), and other challenges.
