Thousands of locals and visitors gather for New Year celebrations
Thanks to the favourable weather conditions in Da Nang over the 4-day New Year holiday break, numerous interesting cultural activities to welcome in 2015 drew a great deal of attention from both local residents and visitors.
Thousands gathered in the city’s 29 March Square on 2 September Street on New Year’s Eve for the public New Year Countdown Party. Organised by the Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (Sabeco), this was the third consecutive year that this outdoor music event had been held in the city.

The event featured impressive lighting, modern sound systems, huge LED screens, and a unique main stage re-creating the image of the Han River Swing Bridge.
To mark the occasion, the event organiser, Sabeco, donated 300 million VND to the local Fatherland Front Committee’s Fund for the Poor.
Two other music events also attracted much attention from locals and visitors. They were a street music programme on Bach Dang Street on the evening of 30 December, and a fascinating programme with musical performances, magic and puppet shows for children at the Trung Vuong Theatre on 31 December and 1 January.
In addition, local cinema-goers have enjoyed newly-released films at the Le Do, Lotte, and CGV Vinh Trung Plaza cinemas which all operated at full capacity during the holiday.
