Various cultural activities will be held in Da Nang in response to the World Book and Copyright Day (April 23).

In particular, the Bach Dang Book Street will be organised from 21-25 April.  The Ho Chi Minh City-based Tiki Corporation will be responsible for providing consultancy services to the event. 

The event will be similar to the one in Ho Chi Minh City in that there will be display areas featuring books and photos to meet the reading demands of local readers, especially youths and children.  There will be sections called “Dau An Lich Su” (Hallmarks of History), “Thanh Pho Doi Moi” (Innovative City) and “Thanh Pho Tuong Lai” (Future City). 

During the 6-day event, the Tiki Corporation will be offering 1 million free downloads of e-books to local smart-phone users, and giving out 1,000 interesting books, worth 5 billion VND in total, to locals.

The Hai Chau District authorities, its Office of Education Training, the Tran Phu Senior High School and some other local schools will jointly organise numerous fascinating activities.  These will include a book reading festival day, a storytelling contest, a book signing and presentation programme on Le Thanh Ton Street, and at other local venues, and an introduction to interesting books stored in local libraries, book stores and on family bookshelves.
