Following recent approval from the Da Nang authorities, the 2015 Da Nang International Marathon will take place in the city on 30 August.

The event is being organised by World Marathon Tours Inc (head office in Houston, Texas, USA), and the Vice Chairman of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), Mr Dave Cundy, will be the technical consultant for the event.

The competition is expected to attract between 3,000 and 5,000 professional and amateur runners.  They will be a full marathon (42.195km), a half marathon (21.0975km), and a 5km run and walk.  The race route will be Vo Nguyen Giap Street - Nguyen Van Thoai Street - Tran Thi Ly Bridge - 2 September Street - Bach Dang Street - 3 February Street - Thuan Phuoc Bridge - Le Duc Tho Street - Hoang Sa Street, with marathon entrants doing 2 laps.

For the 5km run and walk, the route will be Pham Van Dong Street - Ngo Quyen Street - Pham Van Dong Street - Ho Nghinh Street - Tran Huu Tuoc Street - Vo Nguyen Giap Street - Pham Van Dong Street.

Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 finishers in the full and half marathons, with additional prizes for the first-to-finish Vietnamese runners in both races.  Further prizes will be presented to other outstanding runners in all the races.
