Da Nang team top in national diving competition
The 2015 National Swimming and Diving Championships (25m-pool) is taking place at Thua Thien-Hue Province’s Underwater Sports Centre from 24 - 31 March. The event’s participants are 87 divers in 12 teams and 99 swimmers in 15 teams from across the country. The diving competition, with 24 categories, is being held from 24 - 26 March, whilst the swimming competition, with its 42 categories, will be from 27 - 31 March.
During the first day of the diving competition, Da Nang won 3 gold medals and 1 bronze, and it currently ranks top of the 12 teams.
In detail, Nguyen Thi Lan Vy won a gold medal and set new national records of 42.50 secs (in the qualifying rounds) and 42.95 secs (in the final round) in the 100m using snorkel and flippers event. Dang Thi Minh Thuy also took a gold medal and set new national records of 3 mins 26.25 (in the qualifying rounds) and 3 mins 30.83 (in the final round) in the 400m using snorkel and flippers event.
In addition, the city’s relay team, consisting of Nguyen Thi Giang, Ngo Thi Thoa, Dang Thi Minh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Lan Vy, set a new national record of 2 mins 58.01 in the 400m using snorkels and flippers relay.
The team from Ho Chi Minh City is in second place with 2 gold medals, 1 silver and 3 bronze. The Thanh Hoa team is third with 1 silver and 3 bronze, whilst the Ha Noi team is currently fourth with 1 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze.
