The Da Nang People’s Committee recently issued a plan for preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Cotu ethnic minority group living in the city.  The aims are to honour the cultural values of the Cotu people, reduce the gaps in living standards and cultural enjoyment between remote and urban areas, and speed up the implementation of a new rural area upgrading programme in the city’s mountainous areas.

During this year the focus will be on conducting surveys and assessing the current status of the tangible and intangible traditional cultural values of the Cotu people.  Special attention will be paid to expanding and upgrading their Guol houses between 2015 and 2017.

During the 2015 - 2020 period, greater efforts will be made to widely publicise the elimination of unsound habits in the Cotu community.  Importance will also be attached to restoring and promoting the development of some traditional art forms that are at risk of being lost, including gong art and the ‘tung tung da da’ dance.

Between 2017 and 2020, a project to build model cultural villages for tourism in Ta Lang and Gian Bi villages in Hoa Vang District’s Hoa Bac Commune will be deployed.
