Published: August 12, 2015

The Japan-Viet Nam Cultural Exchange Festival 2015 will take place on a vacant land area in front of the Da Nang Administrative Centre between 28 and 30 August.

The 3-day event will feature a total of 60 stands located in 3 main areas, and these stands will open on the morning of 28 August.

In particular, a cultural area will introduce visitors to the distinctive Japanese culture and fine arts through the traditional arts of origami (folding paper to make models) and kirigami (cutting paper).  In addition visitors can try on cosplay costumes and a yukata (a casual, unlined, summer kimono usually made of cotton or synthetic fabric), and participate in various exciting folk games.

In addition, visitors to the Japan-Viet Nam Information Area can access information about tours to Japan which will be provided by the Japan National Tourism Organisation.  Meanwhile, a stand from the Japanese Business Association in Da Nang will introduce visitors to the investment activities of Japanese businesses already operating in the city, and their recruitment requirements.

In the culinary area, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of delicious Japanese specialities, including ‘udon’ (Japanese noodle soup), ‘ramen’ (ramen noodles), ‘kasutera’ (old-fashioned Japanese sponge cake), fresh fish and wagyu beef.

Also in the morning of 28 August, a traditional Japanese tea ceremony will be performed by a troupe from Sakai City.  A seminar to promote Japanese investment into Da Nang will be held in the afternoon of the same day.

The official opening ceremony of the event, which will be held at 5.30pm on 28 August, will feature various exciting activities.  They include an aikido martial arts show, a musical performance by local students and some from Nagasaki Province, a musical accompaniment and a war drum performance by a troupe from Otawara City, and a calligraphy and a 'Soran-Bushi' Japanese traditional dancing show by a troupe from the Mitsuke City.

Various other exciting festive activities will also take place during the last 2 days of the event.  They include cosplay costume wearing and manga mask drawing contests, an origami folding competition, and a sword competition.
