Municipal Organising Board for 5th East Asian Seas Congress established

Following recent approval by the Da Nang  People's Committee, the municipal Organising Board for the 5th East Asian Seas Congress has been established.

The congress, which will take 'Global Targets - Local Benefits: Setting the Sustainable Development Agenda for the Seas of East Asia beyond 2015' as its theme, will take place in the city from 17 to 21 November 2015.

 

Municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Nguyen Ngoc Tuan is the Head of the Board, whilst the Director of the city’s Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, Mr Nguyen Dieu, and the Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Le Thi Thu Hanh, are the deputy heads of the Board.  Other members of the Board include representatives from local relevant agencies and departments.

The Board will work closely with the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA), the national Steering Committee, and the congress’s organisers in order to discuss preparations for the upcoming event and the PEMSEA Network of Local Governments' (PNLG) Forum, which is scheduled to take place on 20 November within the framework of the main event.

The Board will also give suggestions to the city’s People’s Committee about ensuring effective coordination between the local agencies and departments involved in organising the congress and its PNLG forum.

The city’s Department of Natural Resources and the Environment will be responsible for assisting the Board in fulfilling its assigned tasks and keeping close contact between its members in order to ensure the effective operation of the Board.
