Quality of local arts performances improved

DA NANG Today
Published: August 27, 2015

Over recent years, Da Nang’s cultural sector has successfully organised numerous arts performances in the city to celebrate important national and local festivals and other events.  These shows have attracted a great deal of attention from both local residents and visitors.  The quality of the performances has been significantly improved, which has helped to bring a new face to the city’s performing arts scene.

At the beginning of this year a DVD entitled ‘Tinh Yeu Da Nang’ (The Love for Da Nang) was released by the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.  This is the second DVD about Da Nang to have been released in the city since its liberation on 29 March 1975.  The first, called 'Song Han Tinh Yeu Cua Toi' (My Love for the Han River), debuted in 2005.

The new DVD features 10 songs selected from a contest in late 2013 to encourage more songs to be written about the city.  The songs celebrate the land and the people of Da Nang, and highlight the city’s great potential and strengths.

Many attractive arts performances for local residents and visitors have been held at the city’s Tien Son Sports Arena.  Most notably, a special musical show last March entitled 'Da Nang - the Forever Resounding Epic', which marked the 40th anniversary of the city’s liberation, left a good impression on the audience.

Over the first half of this year, a total of 107 arts shows have been organised at the city’s Trung Vuong Theatre, attracting around 95,000 audience members in total.  The quality of the performances has been considerably improved in order to satisfy the increasing entertainment demands of local art-lovers of all ages.

Audience members have been very impressed by symphony concerts, evening musical shows featuring romantic love songs, shows performed by the theatre’s Rainbow drama club featuring magic and fairy tales for children, and other fascinating events.

Over the period, artistes from the city’s Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre have also performed 110 shows attracting around 40,200 theatre-goers in total.  Fifty-five of these shows were held exclusively for tourists arriving in the city.

Also, periodic street music performances, organised by the city’s Events and Festivals Organising Centre, have taken place on the Bach Dang street riverside promenade.
