On Tuesday evening, Da Nang’s Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre held a rehearsal for its water puppet shows at the 29 March Park.

The shows feature 17 popular water puppet performances, including  ‘Teu Giao Tro’ (Uncle Teu), ‘Tu Linh’ (Four Sacred Animals), ‘Le Loi’ (Vietnamese King Le Loi), ‘Dua Thuyen’ (Boat Racing), ‘Trau Sao’ (Buffalo and Flute), ‘Cay Cay’ (Cultivation), ‘Cau Ech’(Frog Fishing), ‘Cao Bat Vit’ (Foxes Catching Ducks), ‘Cu Boi Va Up Nom’ (An Old Man and a Fishing Basket).

These water puppet performances will be held free-of-charge at local primary schools, and at the 29 March Park during the Tet Festival.

Funded by the National Department of Performing Arts and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the shows are part of the city’s tourism stimulus programme and aim to preserve and promote the value of water puppetry.
