After nearly 2 weeks of operation, Hai Chau District’s e-library system at http://elib.netplus.vn:9999/ has proved effective and very convenient, and it has attracted a great deal of attention from local teachers and pupils.

The website allows local readers in the district to easily research and look for their favourite books, as well as read e-books.

The e-library features about 5,000 books on such differing aspects as literature, popular science, economics, politics, philosophy, and natural sciences.

In particular, readers can easily register online to borrow any of their favourite books which are stored in the libraries of the district’s schools.

The Head of the district’s Education and Training Office, Mrs Tran Thi Thuy Ha, remarked, “Over recent years, many of the district’s schools, from primary to senior levels, have faced a shortage of money to add new books to their libraries.  Therefore, the opening of the e-library system has helped both teachers and pupils to access the books they want”.

Mrs Ha also announced that a managing board, consisting of the principals of the district’s schools, will be set up soon to select new books.  The board will be responsible for choosing good-quality books and documents highlighting innovations in teaching methods which are useful to the local teachers.

In an attempt to make the e-library system even more attractive to readers, the website will soon add numerous clips of such interesting events as musical performances and story telling contests at local schools.
