According to the Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, Mr Huynh Van Hung, investment in local cultural and sporting facilities has yet to be conducted effectively.

He noted that 7 of the 15 local public agencies under the direct management of the Department have yet to be given their own work places in the city, and their staff members are now temporarily working in the facilities of other local government agencies.  These agencies are the municipal centres of Culture, Event Organisation and Management, Cultural Heritage Management, Physical Education and Sports, Advertising Management, Physical Education and Sports for the Elderly, and Athlete Training.

Director Hung, therefore, suggested that top priority should be given to constructing a new work place for the Culture Centre’s staff as soon as possible.

The Department will work closely with district-level authorities to build more local cultural and sporting facilities.  Their focus will be on ensuring that, by 2020, 80% of the city’s wards and communes will have their own cultural and sports centres.

Director Hung also asked permission from the municipal authorities for the Department to become the developers of local cultural and sports projects, including the 20,000-seater Hoa Xuan Stadium and the Athlete Training Centre at the Hoa Xuan Sports and Physical Training Complex.
