Viet Nam's Phu Yen Province will host the Miss Friendship of ASEAN this year.  The information was announced by the event's organising board at a press conference on Tuesday.

Head of the organising board, Mr Tran Quang Minh, remarked that the regional contest promotes not only regional beauties but also friendship and unity in the bloc.

Each member state will send its representatives to the competition, which has accepted registration from 15 March. In Viet Nam, the eligible candidates must previously win one of the top 3 titles at a national beauty contest.

Three outstanding contestants of each country will be selected for the final, scheduled to begin on 1 June.

The finale will be held on 1 July. The winner will take part in various international cultural exchanges to promote ASEAN tourism.
