A bikini flashmob and a kayak race off Da Nang’s My Khe Beach will start the launching of the city's Summer Tourism Season on 28 April.

A spokeperson for the municipal Department of Tourism said various entertainment activities and fascinating cultural and arts performances will take place at the East Sea Park in Son Tra District over this weekend.

A photo exhibition introducing the biodiversity of the Son Tra Nature Reserve will take place at the park from 27 April to 3 May.

The department will also launch the ‘Say No to Plastic Bag’ campaign and beach cleaning activities during the summer holiday.

Local dancers and artistes will join a carnival on the eastern side of the Han River, near the Rong (Dragon) Bridge from 8.00pm to 9.30pm on 29 April.

Accrording to the department, around 300,000 tourists, of which 90,000 are foreigners, have already booked tours and accommodation services in the city during the forthcoming 4-day public holiday (from 29 April to 2 May), up 30% against the same period last year.  The average room occupancy rates in local 4 and 5-star hotels, therefore, are expected to be between 80% and 85%.
