6th DA NANG Newspaper Football Tournament concludes

The 6th DA NANG Newspaper Football Tournament for primary and junior high school pupils ended at the city’s Tien Son Sports Arena on Tuesday afternoon with 2 exciting finals.  The final for primary schools was between Mai Dang Chon and Tran Cao Van, and in the junior high schools’ final Nguyen Thien Thuat met Pham Van Dong.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the tournament, Mr Le Quang A, DA NANG Newspaper’s Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Head of the Organising Board, remarked “This year’s tournament featured a total of 30 exciting matches, which gave the audience many different emotional experiences.  The annual tournament created a useful playground for local primary and junior high school pupils during the summer school holidays, and the 16 participating teams showed a great spirit of fair play.”

He also took the opportunity to thank the sponsors for their kind donations and active involvement in organising the event successfully.  They were the Promotion Fund for Vietnamese Football Talents, the Da Nang-Mien Trung Investment Company, the city’s branch of the Viet Nam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, the Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper Printing Company, and the local Lottery and Financial Printing Service Company.

In the final of the competition for primary schools, Mai Dang Chon beat Tran Cao Van 4-0 to be crowned champions.  Third place was shared by the beaten semi-finalists Nguyen Van Troi and Hoa Tien 1.

In the final for junior schools, Nguyen Thien Thuat beat Pham Van Dong 5-3, with Tay Son and Nguyen Luong Bang sharing third place.

Mai Dang Chon and Pham Van Dong won the fair play awards, whilst  Pham Mai Kaka from Mai Dang Chon and Le Huu Thinh from Nguyen Thien Thuat were the top goalscorers.  The awards for best goalkeepers went to Tran Que Duong from Mai Dang Chon and Hoang Nghia Quyen from Nguyen Thien Thuat.  Huynh Viet Truong from Mai Dang Chon and Vo Tan Minh Nhat from Tay Son were named the most outstanding players.
