Huy first learnt French during his 3 years at senior high school. Then, he successfully passed the entrance exam for the French Language Faculty of the Da Nang University of Foreign Language Studies. After graduating in 1998, he took a part-time job at VietnAmitie, a French non-governmental organisation (NGO), in the city.
Since 1999, Huy has been working for the city’s branch of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) (Francophone University Association). From 2009 until now, he has been Chairman of the French Language Club cum Vice Chairman of the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam-France Friendship Association.
In the role of the Association’s Vice Chairman, Huy has cooperated with AUF, the municipal Union of Friendship Organisations, the local French Language Institute, and the French Language Faculty to organise annual French Language Weeks in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province’s Hoi An City.
In 2013, he and local relevant agencies successfully held a series of cultural exchange activities celebrating the 40th anniversary of Viet Nam-France diplomatic ties (12 April).
Acting as Chairman of the French Language Club, Huy has exerted his efforts to make his Club a reliable address for French visitors and ex-pats who are living and working in the city.
The Club has worked well with NGOs from foreign countries such as France and Canada to carry out many humanitarian and charitable programmes in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province. In particular, over the past decade, the Club has successfully appealed to more than 10 NGOs for financial aid, worth between 3 and 4 million VND each, for 42 disabled and AO-affected children in Da Nang, and 13 others in Quang Nam Province. In addition, they have provided the parents of those children with preferential credit loans.
He has personally raised a total of 1,500 EUR per year from the ANAI de Lyon and ALAS organisations to organise 2 free French teaching classes for the Club members and French-speaking community in the city over many years.
In addition, the Club members have helped people from French-speaking countries seek internships and job opportunities in Da Nang.
