Various cultural activities mark the city's liberation

A wide range of cultural activities are taking place in Da Nang between 24 March and 15 April to mark the 43rd anniversary of the liberation of the city (29 March).

In particular, a news and artistic photo exhibition entitled ‘The Integration and Development of Da Nang’ is being held at the western end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge, opposite the Museum of Cham Sculptures, from 24-30 March. Organised by the municipal Cultural Centre, the week-long event features a total of 70 beautiful photos which showcase the city’s cultural exchanges, and its global economic integration activities and development progress.

In addition, a contemporary arts exhibition themed ‘Connection’ is taking place at the Fine Arts Museum at 78 Le Duan until 15 April. On display are a total of arts works made from various materials by 14 foreign artists who are living and working in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province. They come from the UK, France, Russia, the Netherlands, Norway and other European countries.

Between 30 March and 1 April, a space for arts installations will be organised at the eastern end of the Han River Bridge.

Meanwhile, locals and visitors will be treated to impressive musical programme at the eastern end of the Rong Bridge tonight (27 March). The event will feature Vietnamese songs in praise of the country, the indomitable fighting spirit of revolutionary soldiers from Da Nang, and the city’s development progress since its liberation on 29 March 1975.

A street music performance will take place at the western end of the Rong Bridge, opposite the Museum of Cham Sculptures, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on 31 March. The event will feature a variety of musical styles, including lively flamenco, fantastic Vietnamese traditional instrumental music, and interesting contemporary music, along with street arts performances.

From 7.30pm - 9.30pm on 31 March, a special street dance will be held on a section of Tran Hung Dao, between its intersections with Ly Nam De and Trieu Viet Vuong streets. Visitors will be treated to fascinating street parades of live music and dancing. As expected, there will be brass band playing Vietnamese and international music, in all sensations including cheerful, throbbing and glamourous and epical feelings.

At 7.00pm on 1 April, the ‘Weekend Playground’ programme will be organised at the western end of the Rong Bridge, opposite the Museum of Cham Sculptures.  The event will feature various interesting activities, including funny games, along with hip-hop and dancing contests.
