More than 300 journalists from the central and Central Highlands region will compete in the annual Media Football tournament to mark the 93^rd anniversary of Viet Nam Journalism Day (June 21), in Da Nang from 2-3 June.

The event’s organisers said eight teams from Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Hue, Quang Nam, Dak Lac-Dak Nong, Binh Dinh and Da Nang will compete in a round-robin format in two groups, with the top team from each group qualifying for the final.

All matches will be played on a seven-a-side pitch in Tien Son Sports Arena.

At the tournament, the organising committee will present scholarships worth 30 million VND(1,300 US$) to underprivileged students and poor patients in the region.

It’s the 5^th time the tournament has been held for journalists in the central region.

In 2016, journalists in the region and sponsors donated 6.3 billion VND (278,000$) in total to help storm and flood victims in the central localities.
