Over recent years, many artistes in Da Nang have showed their high respect and deep affection for 29-year-old Le Tri, a kind-hearted Da Nang native, who has been actively engaged in implementing many musical programmes for the sake of the community, especially giving a helping hand to the disadvantaged.

Tri has always regarded music as an essential part of his life. When he was a little boy, he nurtured his dreamy ambition of becoming a singer to wholly immerse himself in the world of music.

The young music enthusiast used to settle down in Ho Chi Minh City, a ‘promised land’ for the young to live and make money; but, nostalgia itself urged him to come back to his hometown with the main intention to find fulfillments in living a life filled with music, and making something meaningful for the community.

Luckily, Tri felt very happy to work as a manager for the ‘Tieng Duong Cam’ (Piano Music) coffee bar on Hoang Van Thu Street where he had chance to meet with the locally renowned artistes.

This venue is an ideal place for those who love to enjoy timeless songs of famous late musicians, including Pham Duy, Van Cao, Doan Chuan, Van Phung, Trinh Cong Son, Tu Cong Phung and Ngo Thuy Mien.

At the ‘Tieng Duong Cam’, Tri organised a regular musical show with the participation of a large number of local singers who were willing to sing without needing to be paid.

During the show, each customer pays only 100,000 VND to immerse into a romantic and musical atmosphere whilst sipping tasty drink at this venue.

A total of around 10 million VND collected from such a show was spent on presenting gifts to the mentally-ill and the single elderly across the city.

On his 26th birthday, Tri received a large numbers of records by his friends who are singers as gifts, and then chose the best ones to make a CD.

A total of 50 copies of the CD, valued at 200,000 VND each, were sold out, which made him really happy and surprised.

With his profound humanitarian love, Tri used all the money from the sales of the copies to buy essential goods for the needy living in Quang Nam Province’s mountainous Nam Giang District.

In his mind, Tri has always mulled over how to use music as an efficient way to create something meaningful for the community, and make the life more beautiful and worth living.

Initiated by the talented young man, a music video (MV) to accompany the song ‘Neu Chi Con Mot Ngay De Song’ (‘If I Only Had One Day Left to Live’), written by Vietnamese musician Hoai An, made its debut last year and, encouragingly, received high praise from the general public.

Making the video involved the participation of 47 Da Nang artistes, including famous singers Thanh Tra and Nguyet Hanh, Thanh Yen who was the runner up at the 2005 Sao Mai (Morning Star) nation television singing contest, and local beauty Nguyen Thi Xuan Trang who was amongst the top 10 finalists at the biannual Miss Viet Nam 2012 pageant.

The video features a story of warm humanity and reflects the true values of life.
The release of the video aimed to appeal for public donations to help poor local artistes who are suffering from life-threatening diseases.

Any money donated went to help a guitarist with terminal cancer, a singer with stomach cancer, and a singer with end-stage renal failure.

Following the success of ‘Neu Chi Con Mot Ngay De Song’, Tri is now embarking upon implementing another community-target musical project, entitled ‘Dung De Con Mot Minh’ (Don’t Leave Me Alone), which features the participation of 25 young artistes active in Da Nang including Hong Minh, My Phuong, Cam Van, Thanh Yen, Sy Nguyen and Thien An.

The number of child sex abuse cases in Viet Nam has been increasing at an alarming rate in recent years, making experts scratch their heads over the cause as well as suitable penalties for offenders.

Against the existing backdrop of the child molestation, ‘Dung De Con Mot Minh’, hence, aims to raise the public awareness of taking effective measures to protect children from would-be paedophiles which have sparked waves of fury amongst the public.

This MV is scheduled to be released on 1 June to make the International Children’s Day.

Tri said he always feels very happy to live a life full of great passion for music, and to convey meaningful messages in life to others through the deployment of practical musical projects.
