Thrilling matches in finals of DA NANG Newspaper Football Tournament

The 7th DA NANG Newspaper Football Tournament for primary and junior high school pupils ended at the gymnasium of the Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Pupils on Wednesday morning with 2 exciting finals.

The final for primary schools was between defending champions Mai Dang Chon and Tran Cao Van, and in the junior high schools’ final Tran Dai Nghia faced Chu Van An.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the tournament, Mr Le Quang A, DA NANG Newspaper’s Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Head of the Organising Board, said that this year’s tournament had 16 teams participating, together offering a total of 24 dramatic matches. All the matches gave the audience many different emotional experiences. 

He took the opportunity to thank the sponsors for their kind donations, and the Department of Culture and Sports, the Department of Education and Training, and the School’s Management Board for their active involvement in organising the event successfully. He also expressed his thanks to the Da Nang Radio and Television for broadcasting live the final match for primary schools and the closing ceremony, which helped to advertise the tournament to local viewers.

In the final of the competition for junior high schools, Tran Dai Nghia claimed a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win over Chu Van An after a 2-2 draw. Third place was shared by the beaten semi-finalists Ly Thuong Kiet and Nguyen Luong Bang.

In the final for primary schools, Tran Cao Van came through a tense and enthralling 6-m penalty shoot-out to defeat defending champions Mai Dang Chon 4-3 to be crowned champions. Meanwhile, Ngo Sy Lien and Le Ba Trinh shared third place.

Tran Cao Van and Chu Van An won the fair play awards. Le Ha Thien Bao from Tran Cao Van and Nguyen Ngoc Minh Thanh from Chu Van An were the top goalscorers. 

The awards for best goalkeepers went to Luu Tuyen from Le Ba Trinh and Nguyen Dinh Hung from Chu Van An.  Nguyen Tran Hoang from Tran Cao Van and Nguyen Ngoc Minh Thanh from Chu Van An were named the most outstanding players.
