Specialised eating and drinking areas very attractive to visitors

In recent years, many specialised eating and drinking areas have been established on some of Da Nang’s streets, including Ly Nam De, Huynh Thuc Khang, Tran Ke Xuong, Pham Hong Thai, and Le Thanh Nghi. They have drawn a great deal of attention from both locals and visitors.

Specifically-mentioned is the Son Tra Night Market located along sections of Mai Hac De and Ly Nam De streets in Son Tra District.

After over 2 months of operation, the market has been very inviting to locals, domestic visitors, and foreigners from such South Korea, Japan, Thailand, and European countries.

Visitors to the market can try a wide range of Vietnamese dishes such as ‘my Quang’ (Quang noodles), ‘banh xeo’ (steamed rice flour pancakes), ‘goi cuon’ (fresh spring rolls), ‘com ga’ (chicken rice), ‘bun cha ca’ (fish cake noodles), Da Lat grilled rice papers, ‘com hen’ (rice with mussels), and ‘nem chua ran’ (fried fermented pork roll).

In addition, some Korean, Japanese and Thai specialities are also available there.

Also, visitors can buy some local processed or dried seafood, including ‘muc rim’ (simmered squid), ‘ca rim’ (simmered fish), and ‘muc kho’ (dried shredded squid) at souvenir stalls on Mai Hac De Street.

34-year-old Shin Hyun Woo from South Korea remarked she was very impressed with the friendliness and hospitality of traders at the market. She added all food and drinks here were very delicious and they are suitable for her taste.

Mrs Hieu Nghiem, a tour guide of the Viet Pilgrim Co Ltd, said that although the Son Tra Night Market is not as large and beautiful as the Helio Night Market, food at the Son Tra market is more delicious and their prices are more reasonable than those at the Helio market.

She also underscored the significance of making the Son Tra Night Market more beautiful and inviting, as well as promoting its image to domestic and foreign visitors.

Notably, some specialised eating and drinking areas have been established on Huynh Thuc Khang, Pham Hong Thai, Tran Ke Xuong and Le Thanh Nghi streets in Hai Chau District. These streets have become great venues for local gourmets and visitors who want to enjoy tasty dishes with their friends or family in the city centre.

Delicious local dishes including ‘com ga’ (chicken rice), ‘my quang’ (Quang noodles), ‘pho’ (Vietnamese noodle soup), ‘bun mam’ (rice vermicelli with anchovy fish sauce), ‘mit tron’ (Vietnamese young jackfruit salad), ‘goi bo kho’ (beef jerky salad with green papaya), and fruit smoothies are served on these streets.

According to Mrs Duong Thi Bich Thuy, Secretary of the district’s Nam Duong Ward Party Committee, the area dedicated to delectable breakfast dishes on Huynh Thuc Khang street has a total of around 60 food and drink providers who are offering various kinds of delicious dishes.

She also highlighted the importance of organising more training courses on food safety and hygiene for the food and drink providers, ensuring trade civilisation, and encouraging them to purchase new tables and chairs and other utensils to provide better services for their customers.
