After over 8 months of operation, the bookshelf has attracted a great deal of attention from local readers.

The bookshelf features a total of over 2,000 writings and scientific works, composed by writers in Da Nang and Quang Nam Province, on such aspects as literature, culture, arts, history, economy, and technology.

In addition, other interesting works about Da Nang and Quang Nam, which are written by authors nationwide, are also introduced to readers.

The displayed items include documents relating to historical development of Quang Nam- Da Nang, plus those relevant to Viet Nam's legitimate sovereignty over Truong Sa and Hoang Sa archipelagos.

The placement of this bookshelf aims to create an attractive cultural public space for those who show the special love for Da Nang.

Moreover, this bookshelf plays an important role in serving research and studying activities relating to the land and people of Da Nang.

Mrs Hoang Diem residing in Thanh Khe District’s Xuan Ha Ward said she often visited this inviting place to seek useful information about historical development of Quang Nam- Da Nang to serve her job as a teacher.

In order to promote a healthy reading habit amongst local residents, the city’s General Science Library has developed a digital library model through the efficient use of the Internet, apart from the upgrade of facilities, especially the existing reading space, over recent years.

In addition, the library has shared its collections of valuable books to libraries at district level and schools, as well as introduced them to remote and mountainous areas.

Also at this inviting place, the municipal Union of Literature and Arts Associations has recently organised talk shows to introduce new books and authors to local readers, plus programmes to honour authors and writing books about Da Nang.

Mr Pham Hong Thai, Director of the Da Nang General Science Library, highlighted the significance of this bookshelf in creating an attractive reading space for those who show the special love for Da Nang, and helping to spread the cultural values and special identities of the city.
