Vo Quoc Tuan from Da Nang is considered an inspiring person for triathlon competitions in the city.

In 2015, Tuan was very eager to compete in the VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam Triathlon which was held in Da Nang for the first time with the purpose of checking his health and enduringness.

After participating in this sports event, he quickly abandoned his idea of becoming a real ‘Iron Man’ because he was not strong enough to finish the competition with a 1.9km swim, a 2-loop 90km cycle race, and a 21km run.

In 2016, he registered for the International Challenge Vietnam Triathlon 2016 in Nha Trang in the category of relay team. He and his teammates successfully conquered the triathlon’s events. Since then, he has overcome his fear and dreamed to become a winner of such triathlon competition.

In 2017 and 2018, Tuan regularly finished strict physical trainings comprising a between 30 and 35km run, 200km cycle race, a 20km jogging and a 3 - 5km swim every day in order to prepare well for the  VNG IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam Triathlon 2018.

Tuan’s great efforts were then paid off as he ranked 4th amongst Vietnamese participants.

Most notably, Tuan ranked 188th out of 1,250 participants at the Ironman 140.6 which was held in Malaysia’s Langkawi in November 2018. He also became Viet Nam's No 1 athlete when setting a new record of 12 hours and 11 minutes which was recognised by the World Triathlon Corporation.

In 2017, Tuan established the Danang Triathlon team with the intention of facilitating local athletes to improve their physical strengths and accumulate valuable experience for future Ironman competitions.

With the help of Tuan, over 30 amateur athletes are now in strict physical training in preparations for the 2019 Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship which will take place in May 2019.

Tuan hoped that he would advertise the beautiful image of his city at the 2019 Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship.
