However, travel agencies, and service and accommodation providers across the city are planning to organise a wide range of fascinating events to welcome the arrival of 2020. The intention is to satisfy the spiritual life of local residents, and increase tourist arrivals in the city.

Ms Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, said due to a short break for the holiday, Da Nang is likely to see a significant decrease in domestic tourist arrivals. Meanwhile, the majority of international tourist arrivals in the city over the holiday will come from Northeast Asian and ASEAN member countries.

“There will be an upward trend in the number of both domestic and international holidaymakers using the Internet, especially online travel websites, to book directly with their favourite airlines, hotels or other services” Ms Hanh noted.

According to Mr Doan Hai Dang, the Director of the city’s branch of Vietravel, New Year's Eve gala dinners and countdown parties to ring in New Year will be held at such large resorts as Pullman Danang Beach Resort, Grand Mercure Danang, Sheraton Grand Danang Resort, Furama Danang Resort, and Danang Golden Bay.

In addition, a New Year Countdown Party will kick off at 7.00pm today, 31 December at the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park.

Besides, thousands of electronic dance music (EDM) lovers in Da Nang will be treated by world-class sound and lighting systems, and exciting performances by such famous domestic singers as Min and Isaac, DJs Hiwatts and GLG, at the musical programme entitled ‘Heineken the Takeover’. The event will be organised on the pavement of Tran Hung Dao at the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge on 1 January from 8.00pm - 11.00pm.

During the upcoming holiday, city-based travel agencies have seen a slight rise in the number of outbound tour bookings for the New Year holiday. The most favourite overseas tours are to such countries as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, China, and Japan.
