FIFA is about to release around 150 million USD to help its national associations, in cluding the Viet Nam Football Federation, to offset losses caused by the raging Covid-19 pandemic.

The game’s world governing body said each of its members would receive 500,000 USD in the coming days plus other assistance programmes.
At present, football activities in Viet Nam and matches in the 2022 World Cup qualification are put on hold due to Covid-19.
“The pandemic has caused unprecedented challenges for the entire football community and, as the world governing body, it is FIFA’s duty to be there and support the ones that are facing acute needs,” FIFA President Gianni Infantino said.
“This starts by providing immediate financial assistance to our member associations, many of which are experiencing severe financial distress.
“This is the first step of a far-reaching financial relief plan we are developing to respond to the emergency across the whole football community,” he noted.
