Last year, a hall of residence for boat racers, and a kitchen inside the hall, were upgraded, hereby enhancing the quality of daily life of athletes.
Also, the quality of meals for boat racers has been significant improved, thereby helping them build their optimal muscle mass, as well as strength and improve their boat racing skills and performance.
Every year, some boat racing stars are sent to foreign countries for both short-term and long-term training.
Thanks to the special support from the leaders of the city’s sports sector, boat racers have achieved considerable success in Viet Nam's national sports events.
Most recently, the Da Nang Boat Racing Team have brought home 7 golden, 6 silver and 10 bronze medals from Viet Nam's National Rowing and Canoeing Championship which took place at the Dong Nghe Lake, Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang.
Since Da Nang began the 15-day social distancing on 28 July, the pace of life and all activities of the Boat Racing Team have not been affected too much.
The team’s coach Tong Huu Dung said boat racing is more advantageous than other kinds of sports as team members are trained in a separate dedicated training area at the Dong Nghe Lake.
Dung noted that around 100 team members are attending training courses in their club, and they are not allowed to go out of the dedicated training area.
On Monday morning, leaders of the city’s Athlete Training Centre paid an inspection visit to the Dong Nghe Lake in order to check training activities here.
Director of the Centre Nguyen Dong Hai highly praised the team’s coaches and athletes for strictly following their city’s social distancing rules.
Mr Hai also asked local boat racers to practise on single sculls instead of double or triple sculls in order to ensure their safety amid a new wave of Covid-19 infections.
