Relay race raises funds for Vietnamese workers affected by Covid-19
The Saigon Beer - Alcohol Beverage Corporation (SABECO) and the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour have jointly hosted the ‘Rise with Viet Nam’ relay race with the aim of raising funds for Vietnamese workers struggling due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The donations raised from the event will go to support vulnerable and disadvantaged workers before the Tet Festival 2021.
The sports event is expected to attract 145 runners who have been named as the most influential people in Vietnamese society and their presence in the race will help the organisers increase their fundraising efficiency. Notable amongst the participating runners are Techcombank’s Chief Financial Officer Trinh Bang, and Le Tan Hi who won the full marathon for men at the 2019 Da Nang International Marathon.
Under the competition's rules, relay runners must complete an 1875km run - Heritage Relay - starting from the Ha Long Bay to HCM City between 17 and 25 October, and a 145km run - Future Relay - from HCM City to Can Tho on 26 October.
During the race, members of a team will take turns completing four distances of 2km, 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km.
In each big city they will arrive in, runners will have the opportunity to participate in many interesting events there. In Da Nang, such an event is slated to take place on 21 October morning at the East Sea Park.
Amongst the athletes participating in the relay run in Da Nang are leader of the Danang Triathlon Club Vo Quoc Tuan, Deputy General Director of the Central Post Construction JSC Duong Thai Xuyen, Business Development Director of the city branch of the Viet Nam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPBank) Nguyen Tien Cuong, and Deputy Director of the Vinacontrol Import - Export Company Nguyen Le Duc Tuan.
Deputy General Director Xuyen highlighted the importance of the relay race to partly help workers who are struggling to make ends meet due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
