More than 90 artifacts including jewelry used by brides and grooms during the traditional Vietnamese wedding ceremony, and decorative handicrafts and processing tools were donated by domestically renowned artisans to the Da Nang Museum of Fine Arts on Monday morning.

All donated artifacts were owned by the family of People's Artisan Tran Duy Mong from Thua Thien –Hue Province, and Meritorious Artisan Tran Van Anh and seasoned artisan Tran Dinh Phi from Quang Nam Jewelry Association.

The donated objects demonstrated the great enthusiasm and dedication of the artisans who long for preserving and promoting the precious cultural values of the time-honoured  jewelry crafting which is gradually falling into oblivion in the context of rapid urbanisation.

Also at the museum, a gallery featuring arts works created by late painter and sculptor Le Cong Thanh made its debut to the public, as part of celebrations for the Viet Nam Cultural Heritage Day (23 November).

The famous artist was born in Hai Chau District, Da Nang, in 1932. He passed away in March 2019.

He took part in the To Ngoc Van Resistance Fine Arts Course during the 1955-1957 period. After that, he became a lecturer of the Faculty of Sculpture of the Ha Noi University of Industrial Fine Arts. In 1983, he was appointed Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association during the 1983-1989 period.

Artist Thanh possess a monumental career in sculpture with an independent composition style, being hailed as one of Viet Nam’s most outstanding sculptors in the 20th century.
