Enthusiastic projects

Standing in the wings of the stage before performing his report performance for the ‘’New vitality’ arts programme at the Trung Vuong Theater on November 11, young singer Duc Vu, a member of the theatre’s arts troupe, was quite confident with his performance.

Duc Vu said, in the past times, he has actively practiced his singing voice, body language, attachment styles and performance skills with the hope that he will be brighter and fresher when being back on stage. Like other young singers at the theater, he has invested most of his time into perfecting his voice range and performance styles, as well as practicing new songs.

Vu's deep, powerful and longing voice when performing a song during the report performance touched the audiences’ emotions.

In the position of the judge, Director of the Trung Vuong Theater Tran Quang Hao expressed his satisfaction for Vu’s excellent performance and clapped his hands to encourage the young singer.

That morning, there was only 10 people at the auditorium of the Trung Vuong Theater, most of whom were members of the Board of Directors and the Arts Council of the theater. However, on the stage, 23 arts performances were meticulously choreographed by a team of artistes, from sound and light systems to voice, costumes, perspectives and supporting dance.

In particular, the song named ‘Co Vy, Em Di Di’ (COVID-19, You Go Away) performed by singers Hoang Long and Hong Duyen left its impression on the audiences thanks to its modern and fresh performance meeting the needs of entertainment enjoyers.

From a perspective of a theatre manager, singer Quang Hao said recent years have seen an increasing quality of the theatre’s arts performances in the spirit of youth and newness, in line with the trend of performing arts nowadays. Each arts programme is rigorously and objectively evaluated by the Board of Directors and the Arts Council of the theatre with the goal of improving the professional quality of each theatre member.

During its closure period due to the impact of COVID-19, the theater turned to Meta - Facebook's new name - to live stream arts performances for fans.

Most prominent amongst them is a monthly music and life programme entitled ‘Colours of Trung Vuong’ which features one theme for each month

Most recently, the first show with the theme ‘City in the Heart’ aired live on October 25 with 15 performances praising Da Nang and paying tribute to the frontline forces in the city’s fight against the pandemic.

According to singer Quang Hao, the ‘Colours of Trung Vuong’ programme is his passionate project adapting to the current pandemic situation, and it will be broadcast on the Da Nang Radio and Television Station (DaNangTV) and its online social platforms of Meta, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram under the name of Trung Vuong Theater Da Nang.

Moreover, an online singing contest entitled ‘Our family sings together 2021’ attracted nearly 80,000 views, and 20,000 shares and comments on the theater's fanpage. Singer Quang Hao highlighted that the online contest created the foundation for the theater to come closer to the audiences in the time of COVID-19.

Looking forward to serving the audiences soon

Unable to stand on the stage to perform for fans due to COVID-19, many artistes in Da Nang have chosen to practice at home and interact with the audiences through social networking platforms.

Singer Thanh Tra said that over the past time, she has regularly organized livestream music shows on Meta in a bid to interact with the audiences.

Most recently, the Da Nang native singer has released her new album entitled ‘Thank you to Angels’ in tribute to fronliners in the city’s battle against COVID-19. The album has featured 8 songs composed by musicians Xuan Minh, Duc Trinh, Nam An, Do Xuan Khan, Nguyen Thanh Phong and King Luu.

During his preparatory work for year-end arts performances, artist Tran Quang Ky, Director of the Rainbow Stage, said that dozens of members of the arts troupe have been still practicing plays to serve child audiences in the coming time. Included are A Red Flag Embroidered with Six Yellow Letters, Sons of the Dragon, Thanh Giong, Teenage Heroes, Marine Boy, and The Moon Thieves.

“In light of complicated developments of COVID-19, in one way or another, artistes have still kept a passion for their professions. We look forward to getting back on stage and performing for our audiences soon” said artist Tran Quang Ky.

In a similar vein, seasoned artistes from the Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theater have actively been joining rehearsals of Tuong performances, namely Nguoc Song, Ngheu-So-Oc-Hen, and Ngon Lua Hong Son, to meet public demand for cultural enjoyment.

In addition to Tuong extracts, the theater will set up a number of performances of ancient music, folk dance, dry puppetry and short folk drama in service for both local and visitors on upcoming public holidays and Tet festival.

According to Mr. Tran Ngoc Tuan, Director of the Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theatre, the theatre is now focusing on improving the quality of performances in a bid to bring folk arts closer to the audiences.
