The landmarks, namely Green One UN House in Ha Noi and four beautiful bridges of Rong, Han River, Tran Thi Ly and Tinh Yeu in Da Nang, are lit up in orange throughout ‘The 16 Days of Activism against violence against women and girls’ international campaign, which runs annually from November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) until 10 December 10 (Human Rights Day).
One in three women worldwide has been subject to sexual or physical violence during their lifetime, according to a new report by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Also on Thursday, a combined total of more than 100 judges, prosecutors, investigators, lawyers, and gender equality activists from the People's Court, People's Procuracy, ministries and agencies under the Government, the Viet Nam Bar Federation, and other social organisations participated in the ‘White Ribbon Breakfast’ event.
Orange is the symbolic colour used worldwide for the campaigns and activities pertinent to the elimination of gender-based violence. Orange represents brilliance, innovation and hope for women and children who are survivors of violence.
The 16 Days of Activism against violence against women and girls’ international campaign raises awareness about gender-based violence on local, national, and international levels.
