Since its inauguration before Tet 2022, the traditional house combined with a library in Lien Chieu District has become a favourite destination for a large number of students and workers in the locality. The venue welcomes a daily average of about 20-40 visitors, mainly students.
18-year-old Vu Ngoc Thanh, residing in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, expressed her impression on the spacious reading space, a rich book system and modern equipment of the library. She added that she and her friends often visit the library to read books, look up documents and make friends with those who have similar reading interests.
"The library is a great go-to for studying. It provides not only a peace and quiet space but also great internet access and plenty of table space for readers", added Thanh.
Nguyen Hoang Vi, 16, a resident of Lien Chieu District's Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, said "In the past, I often went to the Da Nang Library of General Science to find out documents and information. However, the distance between the library and my house was too far. Meanwhile, the opening of the library in the district makes it convenient for me to visit and look for neccessary study documents."
According to Deputy Director of the Centre for Culture, Information and Sports of Lien Chieu District Nguyen Thi Hong Nghia, work started on the traditional house combined with a library in Lien Chieu District on July 25, 2020. The VND14.8 billion, 2-storey work is built on an area ofabout 800m2 in the campus of the Lien Chieu District Culture - Information and Sports Centre.
The first floor of the house features a traditional room, a conference room, an e-library, and an outdoor reading space. Meanwhile, the second floor has a reading room, a book store, and a community library space combined with a book café. The library is now offering more than 5,000 books to serve readers of all ages.
“Due to the impact of COVID-19, there are a few visitors to the library. In the coming time, we will promote the advertisement of the library through the facebook page 'Library of Lien Chieu District' and the district's loudspeaker system", said Mrs. Nghia.
The freshly-opened Olive Gallery Danang private library, located in Ngu Hanh Son District, has attracted a lot of young readers.
Mrs. Tong Thu Huyen, the operator of the Olive Gallery Danang, said the 500m2-wide Olive Gallery featured a book library and an art gallery, all built in modern architecture, which can meet the public needs of reading and enjoying arts.
Currently, the library has more than 10,000 books of various genres, including books for young people, children books on skills and psychology, etc.
Also, there is a space to display hundreds of paintings by Vietnamese and international painters. About 50-60 pieces of arts will be dispayed per time with different themes to create freshness.
“Currently, due to the complicated developments of COVID-19, the library only receives about 10 readers/session to reduce interactions between people and keep physical distance between them on-site. We also create favourable conditions to support young artists and arts lovers who can't afford to hold exhibitions at big venues, so they can choose Olive Gallery instead" noted Mrs. Huyen.
