Brainwave was the only representative of Central Viet Nam to participate in the programme. It also won the most favorite band award.

Brainwave is not a strange name for many young people in Da Nang and the community of rock lovers.

Growing up from the Da Nang Cinema and Culture Centre-hosted Festival of Music Bands, Dance Groups and Dance Troupes, Brainwave has gradually asserted itself through its music products and taken a new breath of rock genre.

Brainwave’s leader Le Thanh Khoa, residing in Son Tra District, said that the music band was founded in 2017 with 7 young members who are students of universities and colleges in Da Nang.

Over the past 5 years, the music band has been performing at the “On the radio” Club and some bars and pubs citywide.

Rock ballads are a genre of music that the music band is pursueing.

“The Rock Viet programme is the biggest playground that the group has participated in. This is also the first and largest contest of this music genre. Therefore, the group is determined to participate in with the aim to leave the mark of Da Nang rock music on the national music map" Khoa shared.

At the Rock Viet show, Brainwave competed with 20 music bands from developed music markets such as Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City.

However, Brainwave conquered the audience and the coaches which were famous artists. Right from the hidden round, the team made a strong impression with the self-composed song "Lost way" and received high appreciation from coaches of Phuong Thanh, Pham Anh Khoa, Tran Tuan Hung, and Do Hoang Hiep.

Then, Brainwave chose the team led by coaches Pham Anh Khoa and Tran Tuan Hung. During the competition, the music band devoted themselves with 7 songs and finished as the first runner-up.

Most specially, with their impressive and explosive performances, the band won the most favourite band award voted by the audience.

Standing as a coach, singer Pham Anh Khoa commented, Brainwave is a talented, cohesive group with natural and professional performances.

He believed that with their constant efforts, Brainwave and other young groups will bring the Vietnamese rock movement back to its golden and vibrant era as before.

Brainwave leader Le Thanh Khoa said that in the coming time, his music band planned to coordinate with the Sony Music Entertainment to make a well-rounded music video and release it on online platforms. Also, they will make their first album consisting of the group's most popular songs.

In May 2022, Brainwave will perform at the "Rock'n' Share" programme in Ho Chi Minh City which aims to raise funds for orphans.

“Brainwave's motto and greatest desire is to create a community of young people who love rock music in Da Nang in particular, and across the country in general. This will significantly contribute to inspiring and helping newly established young music groups to pursue this genre of music", Khoa affirmed.
