Specifically, on the afternoon of August 21, the Steering Board for Summer Activities of Hai Chau 1 Ward organised the Food Festival to raise funds for local disadvantaged students.

Tran Thi Thanh Truc, 13, a pupil at the Trung Vuong Secondary School, excitedly said she participated in all summer activities organised by the Hai Chau 1 Ward chapter of the municipal Youth Union.

“This summer for me is very happy and useful because I can participate in many fascinating activities such as a folk dance competition, and a district-level camp" added Truc.

As shared by Vice Chairman of the Hai Chau 1 Ward People's Committee Le Trung Hoang, from June 15 - August 21, 200 local students actively participated in many creative activities, including a book exchange day, team building games, a sports festival, and training courses on self-defense and first aid skills, and child abuse prevention, environmental cleanups, camps, and a folk dance contest.

Such summer activities help students relax after a stressful academic year. This is also a time for children to stabilise their health and spirit, and prepare well for the new school year, emphasised Mr. Le Trung Hoang.

Similarly, the Hoa Cuong Nam Ward chapter of the municipal Youth Union has organised numerous meaningful summer activities since June 4 with the participation of nearly 200 students.

Notably, the participants have had a chance to experience a working day of firefighters under the enthusiastic guidance of youth union members of the Fire Prevention and Fighting and Rescue Police Division. Accordingly, they have learned how to use fire extinguishers and water hoses to extinguish the fire, how to escape from a fire, and how to give first aid to victims of a fire.

Additionally, the Hoa Cuong Nam Ward authorities has awarded 6 scholarships, totalling worth VND3 million, to poor students; and 30 gifts, worth VND9 million in total, to students in difficult circumstances.

In recent two months, the Hai Chau District chapter of the municipal Youth Union has coordinated with relevant units and localities to organise many exciting and practical summer activities for local young people.

Specially mentioned are training courses on drowning and child abuse prevention skills, the launching of the ‘Volunteer Day for Dear Juniors’ and the ‘Green Sunday’ in 13 wards, a flashmob competition themed ‘Youth aspirations’, and a camp ‘Hai Chau youth welcome summer 2022’ at the Tien Sa Beach.

Vice Chairman of the Hai Chau District People's Committee Truong Thanh Dung said that, along with organising summer activities for students, the district authorities have focused on preparatory works for the new school year, such as encouraging young people to get a COVID-19 vaccine, and doing general cleaning of schools.
