Making its debut on July 20, 2019 at the Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong (classical drama) Theatre, the highly impressive ‘The Soul of Viet Nam’ traditional arts show has gradually drawn a great deal of attention of both locals and visitors, hereby preserving and promoting the time-honoured stage performing arts forms. However, due to the complicated developments of COVID-19 in Da Nang, the programme has been suspended since July 2020.

The 60-minute show, which is deeply imbued with distinctive cultural Vietnamese traditions, especially those of the Quang Nam – Da Nang land, features 7 professionally choreographed performances. They are a solo performance of ‘dan bau’ (Vietnamese monochord zither), a Tuong extract of ‘My hometown festival’, a Cham Apsara dancing performance, a Tuong extract of ‘Nguyet Co Turns into a Fox’, a ‘goong lu’ performance themed ‘The Origin’ which means ‘the stones that sound like gongs’, a dance performance and the introduction of costumes of tuong characters.

The 'The Soul of Viet Nam’ is highly appreciated in terms of arts with its richness in interesting Tuong excerpts, excellent repertoires, high performing skills, all of which introduces the audience to the quintessence of traditional Tuong art and brings them back to the bustling atmosphere of the festival in Vietnamese villages.
