Lacquer painting exhibition in Da Nang runs until Dec.4
A lacquer painting exhibition opened at the Da Nang Museum of Fine Arts, 78 Le Duan Street, on Monday.

In his speech delivered at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong remarked more than 100 sets of unique lacquer products, selected from 300 products created by many painters and artisans across the country, are on display at the event.
Deputy Minister Dong revealed in the past, many generations of lecturers and students of the Indochina School of Fine Arts explored and discovered colored materials from eggshells, snail shells, bamboo kidneys, etc. Notably, they used grinding techniques to create unique lacquer art. Uniquely, the term of lacquer also appeared from there.
Thanks to their ceaseless efforts, artists and artisans nationwide have created many unique artworks of high artistic value that have been preserved to this day, he added.
Mr. Dong took the opportunity to stress the need for the lacquer industry to be more creative to enrich palette of lacquer colours, thereby promoting the development of Viet Nam's lacquer arts, and the world's art treasure as a whole.
The exhibition is as part of the project to promote the ‘Vietnamese lacquer art’ national brand with aim to encourage businesses, craft villages and artisans to develop lacquer products into consumer goods domestically and internationally, hereby contributing to preserving and promoting the brand and value of Vietnamese lacquer and building a cultural industry.
The exhibition runs until December 4.
