The Da Nang Surf Open 2022 is scheduled to take place at the My An Beach in Ngu Hanh Son District this weekend.

Hosted by the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches, the competition aims to diversify activities and events at Da Nang beaches, especially in the low tourist season, as well as to create a healthy playground for locals and tourists at both home and abroad to exchange and share experience and passion for surfing.  

The event will feature two main categories of standing and lying on surfboard. The qualifying rounds will last 30 minutes, with the participation of 64 surfers in the first half and 32 in the second half.

The quarter-finals with 16 athletes, the semi-finals with 8 athletes, and the finals with 4 athletes will last 40 minutes each.

Athletes will be scored for each wave and choose the 2 highest scores. The top two surfers from each round will advance to the next rounds.

The competition is open to both local residents, and domestic and foreign visitors. However, contestants are required to have certificates of health from competent health agencies or written commitments to be responsible for their own health.
