Festival features of the 400-year-old village in Da Nang
The Hoa My Village Communal House Festival is taking place from February 1 - 3 in Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang.
After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival is drawing much attention from locals and visitors.
The festival features a number of solemn rituals to honour ancestors and to pray for peace, happiness and prosperity throughout the year, along with a wide range of exciting cultural activities.
Within the framework of the festival, the organisers present gifts to poor households and young men who have been recruited to enlist in the military service, and give scholarships to disadvantaged students.
On Thursday, the memorial stele house was officially inaugurated in Hoa My Village, contributing to educating people, especially the younger generation, about the tradition and history of the village and ancestors from hundreds of years.
Up to now, Hoa My village has undergone more than 400 years of construction and development. The Hoa My Village Communal House was rebuilt twice in 1970 and 2006 and was recognized as a city-level historical relic site in 2010.
It is expected that in May 2023, over VND4 billion in funding from Da Nang government will be provided for the upgrade of yin and yang tile roof, brick foundation, and a worshipping house. The aim is to facilitate locals to promote traditions and preserve the cultural identity of the village.
