Da Nang wins 10 gold medals in rowing and canoeing championships 2023

The 2023 National Rowing and Canoeing Championships for all Clubs nationwide officially concluded at the Dong Nghe Lake in Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang on Thursday.

Co-organised by the Viet Nam Boat Racing Federation and the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, the tournament attracted 410 male and female athletes from 27 provinces and cities nationwide.

The rowing category had 20 events for men and women, with 2,000m in singles, doubles and quadruples.

Meanwhile, the canoeing category consisted of 36 competitions for men and women for Canoes and Kayaks with distances of 200m, 500m and 1,000m in singles, doubles and quadruples.

After more than a week of competition, in the canoeing category, the Da Nang delegation won the first prize with 8 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals. It was followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 6 gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze medals, Hai Phong with 5 gold and 2 silver medals, Bac Lieu with 5 gold and 1 silver medals, and Quang Ninh with 4 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze medals.

With 2 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze medals, the Da Nang delegation finished in the fifth place in the rowing category.

Meanwhile, the Ha Tinh Province delegation came first with 5 golds, 3 silvers and 1 bronze. The second place went to Ho Chi Minh City with 4 golds, 6 silvers and 2 bronzes. Hai Duong and Thai Binh finished in 3rd and 4th places respectively.

The annual tournament aims to create conditions for athletes to improve their performance skills and gain competition experience in preparation for international tournaments.
